With the gradual return of football activities, Betway South Africa in partnership with former Kaizer Chiefs star, Jabu Mahlangu, fast tracked the return of football banter and discussions, with a trip down memory lane on a live interview conducted on Betway SA’s Facebook page.
After enjoying a memorable career, the midfield maestro partnered with Betway SA to plough back into the game that has given so much to him in a career that spans over 15 years.
Mahlangu shared the news after an in-depth interview conducted on Betway’s social media channel, where the dribbling wizard engaged with fans on the highlights of his career, the current state of South African football and his overall view of the game.
Sharing the wonderful news of partnering with Betway, “Shuffle” as Mahlangu is affectionately known said partnering with the brand allows him to fulfil a long standing void in his heart of wanting to give back to football in his hometown, Daveyton.
“Through playing football, I have had the pleasure of making a career out of my talent. Even after my retirement, it is my involvement in football that helps me provide for my family. For this reason, I have always thought of how I could help the talent in my community to fulfil their dreams of playing the game. My partnership with Betway will do exactly that through this donation of playing and training equipment” said Mahlangu.
Mahlangu, in partnership with Betway will deliver the much-needed equipment and kit which is valued at R20 000 to his former club as soon as football activities are permitted.
“Daveyton has produced a number of players for South African football. The likes of Pollen Ndlanya, Junior Khanye, Thabiso Malatsi and recently, Musa Nyatama are all examples of the talent that comes out of this community. Betway’s generous donation will certainly encourage clubs to continue with the wonderful work that they have done over the years” concluded Mahlangu.
Adding to Mahlangu’s sentiments of giving back to the game, Betway SA’s Marketing Manager, David Rachidi said identifying community needs and giving back remains a key priority for the leading sports betting and entertainment company.
“The imminent return of football and sport in general is upon us and we are pleased to once again be at the forefront of aiding sport development. Being consistent in giving back to society forms part of our ethos as a socially responsible brand. It is through such initiatives and partnerships of giving back that we pride ourselves in being a brand that truly cares for our communities across the country” said Rachidi.
The donation forms part of the brand’s monthly #BetwayCares initiatives which has seen Betway travelling across the country to aid the development of community sports clubs and federations.
